Laredo Fire Dept Recieves Federal Grant $1.5 M

The City of Laredo Fire dept. receieved a federal SAFER grant totaling 1.5 million dollars. The funds a re to be used to properly staff fire engines and ambulances in our City. The efforts of many, including Sen. Cornyn, Sen. Hutchinson, Congressman Cuellar, Former Congressman Bonilla, State Sen. Zaffirini, State Rep. Raymond and State Rep. Guillen, helped make this grant possible. Other support was also vital to the succes of the application such as Dr. Brown from LCC, Former City Manager Larry Dovalina and current acting City Manager Cynthia Collazo as well as the Mayor Raul Salinas and Councilmen.

This grant will fund the hiring of 15 firefighters to strengthen the fire dept.
